Dear Diet Coke,
I miss you. I know we broke up a week ago, but I can't get you out of my mind. Your bubbly goodness and semi-sweet taste really brought something to my life. I loved the way you burned my throat as I swallowed you down, and didn't get sticky when I spilled you on the kitchen floor. I wish we could get back together. The headache is killing me.
BUT
We can't.
I know. It's sad. Believe me, it's me. Not you. I am far too addicted to you. And you and the fifteenpoundsI'vegainedinthelastyear's personalities clash. You make me crave sweet things and sweeter things and the things that are sweetest. The fifteen pounds makes me crave being thin and beautiful and the kind of person that people look at and say "wow that girl is hot i wish i could be her." Not Good.
So.
I'm Sorry.
We won't be making up anytime soon. Don't hate me. I'm being strong. I'm eating carb-free. I'm exercising. I'm taking vitamins. And don't worry. Some day soon, I'll be breaking up with those fifteenpoundsigainedeventhoughididn'trealizeituntilitwastoolate, too.
Unfaithfully yours,
Margie

You mean there's hope? I'm good for 4 or 5 days. THen a hot day hits, and I see the cold sweaty bottle of DC in the refrigerated case in the check out line at the store, and that's it.
You find me face down, in a gutter, with an empty bottle of DC in my hand.
Help me, please...
I now feel bad, because I am getting ready to leave for a road trip to Vegas, and I am going to stop at Sonic to get a Route 44 Diet Coke. But not bad enough to not get one.
Hey there! Found you through Mama Kat's blog. Super cute blog and I love this post! I gave up any and all sodas back in college and it was really the best thing that I have ever done. Sadly, I didn't lost a ton of weight from doing it but I know that I'm healthier because of it. I do miss Dr. Pepper like no other! : ) Now I drink plenty of water and lemonade!
I too found you through Mama Kat's writers workshop!! Love your post, good for you for giving up something you love to get healthier! Wish I was strong enough to do that!!
Good luck!
I've never understood the fascination people have with diet coke. And I'm glad. Because cutting something out like that (coffee in my case), just sounds painful.
I can't stand diet coke. or diet soda of any kind. Also? Caffeine-free soda. I mean, what's the point? If I'm going to drink it, I want all that sugary, caffeinated deliciousness!
I was a Diet Coke addict for years. So many years. I quit Diet Coke two years ago July and have never looked back. My stomach has never felt better and my skin has never looked better! And I promise, you'll reach a point where you don't miss it at all! Not even just a little bit!
Good for you!! Stay strong!!
If coffee and I broke up I don't know what I'd do . . . we have such a strong, deep and meaningful relationship. Don't drunk dial the diet pepsi! Stay strong!
you kill me Margie....hahaha
Wendy. Drunk dial the Diet Pepsi. Hahaha. That is a good one. I need to stash that in my bag of jokes somewhere.
Yes all, it is truly KILLING ME. But I'm staying strong.
Hahah! Breaking up is hard to do-ooh.
I broke up with sugar years ago. It gets easier. Now I have no idea what I saw in it. Haha!
I ended a long term relationship with my DC too and though it was hard initially, I know I'm in a better place today because of it! And with a little a healthier diet and exercise, youwillbesogladyoudiit!

Haha, any guy that doesn't bring out the best in a woman deserves to get the boot!
You've made it past a week! Congrats! I play the "I'm going to stop eating/drinking ______" and then eating/drinking that exact thing a week ago. Good job!
love you! I left you an award on my blog! Go grab it.
You just liked it for it's body, anyway. It was all physical. Now you can look for a love with deeper potential, like chocolate.
